With a photovoltaic system equipped with a latest-generation storage system, a family can become over 90% energy self-sufficient, including electric mobility of up to approximately 50,000 km/year. How much charging? On average, 3 hours per night.

“I am aware that some will be as enthusiastic as I am, while others will have some reservations. There is one thing we can all agree on, in my opinion. In the future, there must be room for European and Italian companies.” Michele Torri

The theme of technological culture revolves around the idea that innovation is driven by industry and research, not by prohibitions and incentives. Businesses are the engine of technology, and without technological neutrality, we would be stuck on a dead-end track. However, once the direction of the future has been identified, it is necessary to invest quickly in that direction and not fall victim to a stagnant counterculture. The risk is that it will then be too late for the Italian spirit I was talking about.
In 2022, public opinion saw photovoltaics literally take off in Italy. Yet we are lagging behind the rest of Europe, with almost one-third of the installed capacity of Germany and Spain, and half that of Poland and the Netherlands. We are perhaps comparable to France, but we know that France’s energy strategy is integrated with nuclear power.

The “FIT FOR 55” (Europe’s request to reduce emissions by 55% by 2030) scares us, yet Terna has produced summary reports containing some astonishing data.

We will have to install 70GW of renewable energy in the next seven years. This seems like a lot, but not when we compare it to the number of connection requests that are pending and not yet authorized: 311GW (including 124GW of photovoltaic energy). That’s more than four times the requirement!

“In a hypothetical scenario without bureaucracy, Italy would have already achieved decarbonization.” Professor Massimo Beccarello, professor of Industrial Economics at Bicocca University, offers us a vision of what the world could look like in 2030 in Corriere della Sera: a 50% reduction in energy bills and 132 million tons of oil equivalent. Are we ready to face the challenges of the future?
